My first solo release, “Underscored”, is available everywhere.

All of the music on “Underscored” was originally written for films I’ve scored. In all cases, it’s either material that I wrote while sketching melody and instrumentation possibilities or it started as a cue for a particular scene, but it wasn’t working, so I stopped before it was finished. I liked where these pieces were going, but they were not going to work for that film or particular cue.

Sometimes, I’ll have 20 or 30 little ideas that I recorded and still like, but again, they likely will never see the light of day unless I decide to work on them for something like this. My plan is to continue working on these ideas and then I’ll put them in groups that go together and release them.

What you’re hearing is music that I wrote, performed, mixed and mastered. There are a lot of virtual instrument parts and more acoustic instruments than you probably think. These days, VI’s are truly incredible instruments that can be literally anything and are sometimes unique blends of things that would be nearly impossible to recreate, especially for composers without very large budgets. They’re also incredibly inspiring and for me, the sounds often inspire the parts and melodies, so having really great and unique starting places as well as minute components of these starting places at my fingertips makes my job a lot of fun. All of this makes story telling a real joy for me.

Next up is a soundtrack for a film I scored early 2022 which will be released around the time that the film is released in early 2023. I’ll be starting another score shortly after. From there, I’d like to complete two other soundtracks and release those prior to diving back into another solo release.  I’m sure there will be some more projects to work on, but I’d like to release another solo record in the next 12 months if I can make it happen. Lots to do to get there.
